Gonna skip over the content, for now. This was beautifully done. Every damn note, held for just the right how long, the beat crisp where it needed to be, diffuse when the voice whispers.

You got the gift. Not just the know how, but the deep talent to share vulnerability without complaining, the courage to demand more out of life and make it your art.

You struggled for this, you earned it, and the fucking pain you've gone through is shared because it's real. What you do, here, is real. Your writing is real.

Don't stop. Don't even slow down. You are a writer with a helluva muse.

GAHHHHH. That is just - the best compliment I’ve ever gotten. Thank you so much for reading and for your feedback. I appreciate criticism anytime to get better at this stuff, but it feels damn good to get such a powerful compliment. Glad to be along for the ride, Erik. <3

I have no suggestions as to the writing. It's a first class flour-less truffle cake: dense, rich…a mainlining of goodness.

Perhaps break the essays into smaller bites, on this platform. Give readers room, let us take something out of the fridge, go to the store, pay some bills. Otherwise we might skip over paragraphs we wanted to read but ran out of time, or headspace.

Leave us with anticipation.

<3 Thank you, again…concision/ economy of words is so hard for me. Gotta keep working on that. Probably why I’ll never adapt to that 140 character limit (was that twitter?) or instagram or any short form! I wanna practice flash fiction this year.

I'm not suggesting an economy of words. That would disrupt the rhythm and evocativeness of your writing. I'm suggesting "Part 1" and "Part 2."

LOL. I get Erik's point. It's a good one and something to consider.

But, Jessica, if you have part or chapter 2 (and 3 and 4 ...) ready, don't leave us hanging. Post it!

The New Unhinged has argued that these are works in progress and not final polished works fit to be bound as the oeuvre of The Gravestone. Plus I know how busy you are starting this up, doing tech work to pay the bills at least for the short term, raising your son, and connecting with Dr. Robot.

So post when the muse strikes, parcel it up as you feel best, and we'll all sort it out.

Have a blessed Sunday, Jessica! I agree with Erik. You are a shining voice with a unique perspective shaped by the incredible joyful and, yes, also painful experiences you've had.

It is a joy and privilege to know you!

I finally took the time to listen to your playlist. Although I can't appreciate the local influence, I really enjoyed them. Thanks!

Wasn't exactly a fan of The Silversun Pickups when you wrote about them so I wasn't certain. 😊

Thanks for the music and local references. I greatly appreciate the occasional glimpses behind the curtain you provide us to better understand the music, places, and events which have shaped your life.

Dr. Robot Grant certainly appears to be an influence destined to shape your near future. I'm so happy for you!

So glad to have your virtual friendship MG!

Wow, Jessica! I keep hearing that AI and robots are going to replace us but, I must say, this one (maybe, possible) really hurts! That Dr. Grant is a luck guy(?)! ;)

Best wishes for your quality entanglement with not-a-doctor, not-a-robot, not-named-Grant!

Might have trouble finding a rocking Buddhist monk video, but gotcha covered with Nashville's own Vols-to-the-wall GD tribute band. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHbcveY1ANM

Too funny!!! thanks @Infanttyron3 !!

I read the entire passage to come to the comments to ask: What happened to Mr. Grant? As usual good read. Extremely abstract and had me walking the hallways a little woozy, not because of the read but because remembering 1999 reminded me how old I am. Thanks again.

Oh, thanks so much, Bryce! It's a head trip when you go down memory lane that far back. I've been trying to get my balance over it all since Saturday...

Dr. Grant is doing well today, as far as I know. He texted me that he was running some errands a few hours ago. ;)

“Through The Looking Glass” for GenX and, yes, some sentiment looks good on you. Loved the lyrics and references.

May your wishes be Grant-ed.
